Usain Bolt wins 200m at Athletics World Championships 2011

Usain Bolt wins 200m at the Athletics World Championships 2011 in Daegu, South Korea after 100m disappointment.

After Usain Bolt bolted too quickly in the 100m a week ago, he made sure that this time, for the 200m he didn’t make the same mistake. He was one of the last to react to the starters gun.

The 200 metres is Usain Bolt’s favourite event and his hesitant start did not cause any problems for his race as he crossed the line in just 19.40 secs.

Usain Bolt again had time to spare at the finish line as he throttled back, knowing that he was too far in front to be caught by second placed Walter Dix who finished 1/2 second behind.

The victory is the first time for 24 years that an athlete has been able to defend the 200m world championship title.

Usain Bolt declared his intentions for the London Olympics when he mentioned that he would look to blow people away at the event.

Baring injury, on this evidence it doesn’t look like anyone will get any closer to Bolt at the London Olympics than they did at the Beijing Olympics in 2008.

There is a chance that Usain Bolt will be able to capture another gold medal at the World Athletics Championships when he takes part in the 100m relay.
