Vettel Takes His Red Bull and Flies into Pole Position
Sebastian Vettel landed in the driving seat earlier today when he achieved pole position in the Abu Dhabi Formula 1 Grand Prix.
The 23 year old German is now one of 4 men who can take the F1 drivers title in the last race of the season, which is taking place on Sunday.
The other drivers who have a shot at the title are Vettel’s team mate, Mark Webber, who came 5th in qualifying and has severely dented his chances of winning following that qualifying position.
Lewis Hamilton who managed to take 2nd place on the grid but is on the side of the starting grid with less grip.
Fernando Alonso who starts in 3rd place on the grid appears to be the man with the biggest chance of winning being 8 points clear of Webber, 15 points ahead of Vettel and 24 points clear of the outside chance Hamilton.
To a certain extent Alonso has the championship race in his own hands. If he wins the Abu Dhabi GP or comes 2nd then no one else will be able to surpass his points score and he will be crowned 2010 champion.
