Sabastian Vettel Qualifies for Pole Position in Australia

Sabastian Vettel has started the 2011 Grand Prix season in the same form that he finished the 2010 season, grabbing pole position for the Australian Grand Prix.

Vettel showed sparkling form dominating every stage of the qualifying session only taking one lap in the final phase of qualifying to take pole position as the other drivers failed to get close.

Vettel’s team-mate Webber was fourth fastest but really struggled to match his red bull team-mate for pace, he admitted that he was mystified by the gap between the times of the two cars.

McLaren underlined their improving form when they finished qualifying in 2nd and 4th place with Hamilton delighted with his front row place on the grid.

Ferrari in contrast struggled throughout ending up back in the grid in 5th and 8th places. They had been seen as potential favourites showing good results during testing.
