Adele Conquers the Charts on Both Sides of the Atlantic
Adele is beginning to dominate the charts on both sides of the Atlantic this month with not only a US No.1 album, but she has also become the first living artist since the Beatles to have 2 top 5 hits in both the UK album and UK singles chart.
The single ‘Someone Like You’ (which you can watch her perform live at the Brits here) is no.1 in the UK singles chart for a 3rd week with another single ‘Rolling in the Deep’ currently at no.5, she also has a cover of the Bob Dylan song ‘Make You Feel My Love’ at no. 27.
In the UK album chart her latest album ’21′ is at no.1 after it debuted there 2 weeks ago, her previous album ’19′ has also had a resurgence and is at no.4
Both albums are titles after the age that Adele was when she recorded them, it shows a remarkable climb to the top of the music world for a girl who was first discovered after some videos of her were posted on the internet.
In the US the album ’21′ went straight to the top of the charts in it’s first week of release selling 352,000 copies and the album ’19′ went back up the chart to number 16.
