U2 to Join Beyonce and Coldplay as Glastonbury Headliners
It has now been confirmed that U2 will join Beyonce & Coldplay as 2011′s Glastonbury headliners, confirming the Glastonbury rumours that have been circulating for a while.
U2 will headline on the Friday night, 24th June and will be the first time that the band have played the Glastonbury festival at Worthy Farm in Somerset.
They were supposed to headline last year but their appearance was cancelled when Bono injured his back and couldn’t perform. Damon Albarns band, the Gorillaz stepped in as their replacement at the last moment.
U2′s guitarist, Edge, did manage to get on-stage during the festival by appearing as a guest with rock band Muse, he said that he looked forward to coming back to pick up where he left off.
They join the other confirmed acts, Coldplay and Beyonce to set up what should be some headline grabbing performances from 3 of the biggest acts in the world.
The power to draw the biggest acts confirms Glastonbury as the biggest festival in the world and underlines what a huge event it has now become with crowds expected to be over 100,000.
