Rihanna Mirrors Elvis Presley’s Achievement
Rihanna has equalled a record that has stood in the UK for 47 years, and last achieved by that goliath of the music industry, Elvis Presley.
Ri-Ri as her fans call her, is the first person since Elvis to achieve a UK number one chart position for 5 years in a row. Elvis achieved in between 1957 and 1963.
Rihanna has also set a new record as the first female to achieve that distinction.
It started with the single ‘Umbrella’ in 2007, ‘Take a Bow’ in 2008 followed by ‘Run This Town’ with Jay-Z in 2009, ‘Only Girl in the World’ last year and in 2011 her newest release ‘What’s My Name?’ officially hit the top spot this week.
Rihanna’s latest album, ‘Loud’ has also hit the top of the album charts selling around 900,000 since it’s release towards the end of 2010.
Always seeming to be working, Rihanna is also making a film due for release in 2012. It is reported that she went straight from an all night bachelorette party, for her best friend Katie Perry, to a video shoot for ‘Only Girl in the World’ last year.
It’s not surprising that she now has this record if she doesn’t seem to need any sleep.
