Eurovision Song Contest Winners Are….. Azerbaijan !
Over 100 million people watch the Eurovision Song Contest every year and this year it is Azerbaijan’s turn in the limelight as they win with their song entry ‘Running Scared’.
Nigar and her singing partner Eldar Gasimov are the Azerbaijan group called Ell/Nikki who won the prize with a total of 221 points. Italy came 2nd with 189 points and Sweden 3rd with 185 points.
The 56th Eurovision Song Contest was held this year in Dusseldorf, Germany after the German entry Lena won last year.
This time it took on a slightly different format than in previous years. This year, any entries had to get through a semi-final to make it to the big occasion as a way of increasing the standard of entries.
It seemed to work, this year there was a marked improvement across the board from the songs of past years which, well lets just say they left alot to be desired.
