Amy Winehouse’s family & friends say goodbye to the singer at her funeral in London & stars pay tribute.
The singer had battled drink and drug problems for most of her career but Amy Winehouse‘s father, Mitch, told those present at the funeral how she had conquered her drug addiction and was trying hard to deal with her drinking.
Amy Winehouse was found dead at her home on Saturday by one of her security team and she was unable to be revived by paramedics.
He said that Amy had just achieved her 3rd week without alcohol. He also talked about her finding love and that she was the happiest that she had been for years.
For the Amy Winehouse fans, as well as family and friends, it will be a source of comfort to know that she was happy at the end.
Mitch also talked about his plan to setup an Amy Winehouse foundation to help those with addiction’s.
The mourners at the funeral included her musical collaborator Mark Ronson and friend Kelly Osbourne amongst the 300 or so attendees.
After the service, Amy Winehouse‘s body was taken to the local crematorium followed by close relatives and friends. Afterwards they met other guests at a north London Synagogue for a private reception which starts of 3 days of official morning for the star, following Jewish custom.
So far, the cause of Amy Winehouse’s death has not been established. The initial post mortem was inconclusive so further tests are being carried out to determine any toxins present and their strength. Police have said that these tests could take up to a month to give any results.
Most Amy Winehouse fans won’t care about why she died, they only want to say thanks for the music. One thing that has become apparent from all of the tributes coming forth from those who knew her was that she was a warm and kind hearted person and a far cry from the persona that was portrayed in the media.
