Amy Winehouse Found Dead At Her Home
Amy Winehouse, the troubled singer, has been found dead at her home in London. She was just 27 years old.
A police spokesman confirmed that a 27 year old women had died in Camden, north London but that the cause was unknown.
Amy Winehouse was a singer who was blessed with an incredible soul voice, but cursed with addictions to alcohol and drugs. She had been in and out of rehab for most of the last 5 years and had recently undergone another visit.
She was putting the finishing touches to her 3rd album and had recently pulled out of her comeback tour after her first gig in Europe was a disaster, she appeared too drunk to perform and was jeered off stage.
In her short career Amy Winehouse had risen to the top of the music world. Her first album won her critical acclaim but it was her second album, Back to Black in 2006, that propelled her to international stardom winning 5 Grammy awards and millions of album sales.
Amy Winehouse made her last public appearance last Wednesday night when she appeared onstage to support her God-daughter, Dionne Bromfield, at the Roundhouse in Camden, London.
Flowers, bouquets and candles have already started piling up at the end of the the Camden road where Amy Winehouse lived and now, tragically, died.
Amy Winehouse and the ’27 Club’
She has joined a pantheon of great rock and pop stars who tragically never make it to their 30′s. They include those who died at 27, the so called ’27 club’. Kurt Cobain, Hendrix, Joplin and now Amy Winehouse.
It appears that Amy Winehouse, along with many others, could never get comfortable with the success, fame and pressure that music brought into her life. Many of her friends have said that she was a reluctant star, she only did what she did because she wanted to make music to meant something.
